About Us
The National Panhellenic Council (NPC) was founded in 1902 and serves as the overarching body for 26 women's fraternities and sororities nationwide. These groups are present on 700 college and university campuses across the United States and Canada. NPC organizations represent 3.5 million sorority women, along with approximately 3,700 alumni organizations. At Northeastern University, the Panhellenic Council acts as the governing body for both the Nation Panhellenic Council (NPC) sororities and Phi Sigma Rho, the university's affiliate chapter. Currently boasting over 2,000 active members, the Panhellenic Community is the largest Fraternity and Sorority Life (FSL) council on campus and the largest women's student organization. Led by an Executive Council comprised of elected leaders from various chapters, the Council upholds and promotes core values: sisterhood, scholarship, leadership and service. The Executive Council provides support to chapters, enforces policies and procedures, and ensures all members receive an inclusive and rewarding experience.
Panhellenic Creed
We, as Undergraduate Members of women's fraternities, stand for good scholarship, for guarding of good health, for maintenance of fine standards, and for serving, to te best of our ability, our college community. Cooperation for furthering fraternity life, in harmony with its best possibilities, is the ideal that shall guide our fraternity activities.
We, as Fraternity Women, stand for service through the development of character, inspired by the close contact and deep friendship of individual fraternity and Panhellenic life. The opportunity for wide and wise human service, through mutual respect and helpfulness, is the tenet by which we strive to live.
Why Panhellenic?
Panhellenic sororities provide a supportive and inclusive community where members develop bonds of sisterhood that last beyond their college years. The Panhellenic community offers numerous opportunities for members to hone their leadership skills. Members cultivate valuable skills such as communication, teamwork, and problem-solving, preparing them for future leadership roles in various aspects of their lives. The Panhellenic community prioritizes academic excellence and provides resources such as study groups, tutoring, and academic advising to support members in their academic pursuits. Additionally, the Panhellenic community provides a support system for our members, facilitating networking opportunities, mentorship initiatives, and workshops focused on professional development. These resources aim to assist members in navigating career oaths, establishing professional networks, and honing crucial skills for success in their respective fields. Moreover, sorority membership grants access to a wide-reaching network of alumnae, professionals, and peers, who serve as invaluable sources of support, guidance, and opportunities throughout members' lives. These connections prove instrumental in fostering career growth, personal development, and the formation of lifelong friendships. Furthermore, each Panhellenic sorority is dedicated to serving the community through philanthropic endeavors and volunteer projects. Engaging in such activities allows members to make a positive impact on the greater community, foster a sense of social responsibility, and so much more.
